  • Hip and elbow dysplasia

  • IVVD or peripheral nerve injuries

  • Back pain

  • Fracture rehabilitation

  • Cruciate ligament injuries

But it can also help with more general issues such as:

Horses are flight animals, which means they are excellent at hiding when they are in pain. As a rider, its important to understand some of these more subtle signs of pain.

Horses may exhibit behavioural changes such as bucking or resenting being tacked up. They may present with schooling issues, such as feeling stiff on one rein, going disunited, or refusing to jump. Sport horses may record a poor performance.

The goal of physiotherapy is to identify areas that may be causing pain. Provide treatment in the form of manual therapy, electrotherapy and rehabilitation exercises. Our therapists will work closely with your veterinarian, farrier and saddler to ensure a multidisciplinary approach is achieved.

Equestrian Rider

Physiotherapy screenings are crucial for horse riders as they help identify any potential musculoskeletal issues that may cause pain whilst riding. By assessing mobility, strength, and  riding posture, our physiotherapists can provide tailored recommendations to enhance performance and prevent discomfort during riding.

Asymmetries in horse riders can have a negative impact on the horse's movement. In this instance, horses may develop compensatory issues, such as back pain.

If you own a horse, or ride the same one regularly, it is important to assess both of you to ensure the root cause of any problems are determined.
